A crutch

Updated: Dec 28, 2021

Having something to distract you from your problem is like a crutch that is only meant to be temporary but not a permanent solution.

The same could be said about the distractions we use to snap out of depression mode. Let us discuss these.

In order to heal, you need to actually go through the pain, live through the loss, and admit the extent of the damage that has been done to you. This will help you understand just how much healing you need to undergo.

It's never just a quick prayer, then all that pain in its entirety and everything that you've gone through suddenly disappears. Even when you undergo deliverance, we still need to go through healing. I could liken pain, trauma, and anxiety to cancer.

Undergoing deliverance is like removing a tumor. However, it is only once the chains have been broken that you can begin to heal. They go hand in hand. Because if you are unable to forgive what needs to be forgiven, let go and accept God's forgiveness, your wounds will become septic and you will become infected by the same issues all over again.

Which is why many people who undergo deliverance, or undergo therapy, or give their lives to God, have no lasting growth nor peace, because they still have these chains that bind them.

Even if you're cast out by a spirit, if nothing takes its place, then that spirit can come back with seven stronger spirits and your spiritual state will be worse off (Matthew 12:45).

This is what is happening to many believers, and that is why they get so frustrated with God and end up walking away because they do not feel or deal with everything that they are meant to. I understand that all too well because I too have faced the same situation.

This is why forgiving, healing, and letting go are important steps that need to be taken when you are serious about moving on with your life.

Remember that there is a time to walk around using a crutch and then comes a time to lay it aside and walk without it again.
