A loving God and Parent

Updated: Dec 30, 2021

What God revealed to me today was that a lot of people have a hard time perceiving His true nature and understanding Him as a loving Father, because a lot of people grow up in families where they do not have a good example of a loving father, or parent at times.

We may be inclined to take the example our parents have given of what a parent is, and we impose these characteristics onto God when regarding Him as a Father and therefore believe that’s the type of parent He will be. Only a handful have been blessed to have a parent or an adult in their lives whom they know they can turn to when they experience difficulties and be assured enough that "if I go to my mom, my dad, or so-and-so, there will be no judgement, but the surety that I will be forgiven."

As a result, we believe that when we make mistakes and stray from the path of God, we cannot return to God in repentance because He will also judge and condemn us for failing or falling short again.

Everyone around us, including friends and family, is neither able to recognize where we are truly coming from nor perceive the conditions of all that we face in life; they therefore tend to judge based on perceived behavior and see through the eyes of one’s flesh. We forget that the very nature of God’s love is that, at His very core, He is not like us. Beyond that, the manner He sees and approaches us will not be the same as with people, because He is able to look into our very souls.

As the Omniscience God who examines man’s soul, he is able to see and hear the words we may at times find hard to articulate and, therefore, able to hear and understand our deepest groanings.

This is why we need to get to a place in our relationship with God where we are able to comprehend that since He does not see us and our conditions based on the flesh, all we need to do is run towards Him when we find ourselves lost and trapped in situations of our own making. We don't have to stay stuck in our old ways, trying to free ourselves as if God can't see or understand our struggle, thinking that if we turn back without figuring it out on our own, he'll reject us and throw more stones at us.

We need to understand that He loves us and we can dwell in the depths of that love because He is waiting to lavish it upon us, regardless of the state we have found ourselves in. All he wants is to hear you say, "I’m back" or "Please, come and get me."

He will never reject you out of annoyance due to your repeated mistakes and poor choices; He wants to hear you say, "I want to go back to you."
