Continuing with our theme of the week, "God and fire".
As we have already established, God is a consuming fire. God speaks through fire, and God uses fire to prove that you are truly His.
Today’s message will be entitled "God lights the way through fire". It is so important to follow the lead of God’s Spirit concerning everything, because we can make plans, but then He will redirect us based on His will rather than our own understanding. This was a lesson I too had to learn while working on this theme, because He redirected me back to the Book of Exodus as there was a revelation He wanted to reveal, which is in itself a message of discernment, surrender, and obedience to Him.
We need to understand that we need to follow the lead of the Holy Spirit or we will end up doing things according to our own understanding, which is how a lot of people end up being misled, tripping up along the way, or spending "40 years" in the same place, wondering why God brought them out of a problem only to leave them stuck in a figurative wilderness situation, walking around in the hot desert sand. We never realize that this stagnancy is the direct result of not following God’s leadership and direction in our lives, but we instead choose to complain, test Him along the way, and turn to other things for direction.
However, when we surrender to God’s will and follow His direction in our lives, there are a lot of circumstances we would rather avoid facing and suffering through along the way.
When we understand the voice of God while also heeding it, we will then begin to understand who we are in him and the authority found in and through his leadership. The message is therefore based on how God uses fire to lead His people, basing our study on the book of Exodus just after their release from slavery, focusing on the two pillars and how to apply them in our spiritual lives.
